Post-combustor for internal combustion and off-gas engines
THE AFTERBURNERS
LAI has designed and developed a post-combustor for internal combustion engines (Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer RTO).
This afterburner, thanks to thermal oxidation at high temperatures, is capable of converting the organic residues and carbon monoxide present in the exhaust gases of internal combustion engines into carbon dioxide and water vapor.
How the afterburner works
Thanks to a heating system with electric resistors and the hot fumes of the exhaust gases, the post-combustor for LAI thermal engines reaches operating temperature in two or three hours.
From here, a heat recovery system, exchanging the hot flows in the two tanks filled with ceramic material, creates a self-sustaining condition, also thanks to a small injection of biogas.
The final stages of the system
The afterburner for internal combustion engines manufactured by our company is entirely controlled by a PLC and requires little or no operator intervention.
The remotely controllable management system allows for immediate intervention, avoiding engine downtime due to failure to reduce pollutants.
