LAI has designed and developed an afterburner for endothermic engines (Regenerative Thermal Oxidiser RTO).
This afterburner, thanks to thermal oxidation at high temperatures, is capable of converting organic residues and carbon monoxide present in the exhaust gases of endothermic engines into carbon dioxide and water vapour.
Thanks to a heating system with electrical resistances, and the hot exhaust fumes, the LAI afterburner for thermal engines reaches operating temperature in two to three hours. From here with a heat recovery system, exchanging the hot flows in the two tanks filled with ceramic material, a self-maintaining condition is created, thanks also to a small input of biogas.
The afterburner for endothermic engines built by our company is entirely controlled by a PLC and requires little or no operator intervention.
The management system, which can be controlled remotely, allows immediate intervention, avoiding engine stoppages due to the failure to abate pollutants.
